Fakt

Branding

Silver World Media Festival Award Winner: News

Fakt: German for "fact." The design had to be just as direct.

MDR was our first broadcast client when we opened our doors in Berlin in November 2004. We spent the next four years building a relationship through extensive work across their programming.

Thirteen years later, they called again.

FAKT is one of Germany's highest-rated political news programs, airing nationally on ARD. The rebrand required a complete show package: opener, lower thirds, transitions, stings, infographic templates, and style guidelines for in-house production. The visual language we developed – angular geometries, controlled color, and precise motion – became the foundation for the physical set design as well. On-air and on-set, unified.

Some projects mark a milestone. This one marked a homecoming.

Role: Concept. Design. Brand Identity. Animation.

Infographics Style Guide

Beyond the show package, we created a comprehensive style guide for FAKT's in-house production team—a 25-page reference document covering every graphic element they'd need to produce on deadline.

The guide defines the show's visual grammar: a primary palette of warm oranges against deep blue-gray backgrounds, with dark and light variants for different editorial contexts. Detailed specifications cover headline treatments, quote cards, bar charts, donut charts, regional maps, presenter graphics, and explanatory animations—each with precise pixel dimensions, typography specs, and shadow values.

The goal: give MDR's team everything they need to build graphics that feel native to the rebrand, week after week, without external support.

Design that keeps working after we've moved on.
